Turkey Dental Health Statistics:
Oral and dental health is important at every age. According to the Turkish Dental Association's research, 9 out of 10 people in Turkey experience oral problems. The rate of tooth decay is higher among children aged 14-17 compared to other age groups, while half of the individuals over 65 unfortunately have no teeth. In a country where oral and dental health statistics are so low, accessing accurate information and using the right toothpaste and toothbrush is of great importance to everyone.
Why Glimo Oral Care and Dental Health Products?
Synthetic, harsh bleaching, abrasive, and foaming detergent-derived chemicals, often used in traditional toothpastes, can cause sensitivity in the gums and irritation in the oral mucosa, posing a threat to oral health and overall health.
Glimo Toothpastes are 100% natural, multifunctional products that do not contain the chemicals commonly used in traditional toothpastes and offer whitening, restorative, and protective effects, making them suitable for sensitive teeth and gums.
Glimo Toothpastes are Evidence-Based Products:
According to the test and analysis results conducted at Yeditepe University Faculty of Pharmacy, Drug - Cosmetic - Medical Device R&D Analysis Laboratory, Glimo toothpastes do not contain SLS, triclosan, parabens, chlorhexidine, fluoride, gluten, or animal DNA.
Produced using new generation manufacturing technologies and in compliance with GMP standards, Glimo toothpastes support your dental and oral health from the first brushing without scratching, causing sensitivity, or damaging your teeth and gums.
A study conducted at IDEA Clinic in France in 2019 revealed that Glimo toothpastes provide 100% odontogenic tolerance, 100% general satisfaction, 95% whitening effect, 95% purchase intention, 75% fresh breath, and 0% clinical intolerance.
Glimo Toothpastes contain 14 types of 100% natural raw materials. Of these raw materials, six have whitening effects, eight have restorative effects, eleven have protective effects, ten have antibacterial effects, and six have antiviral effects.
Glimo is the only toothpaste in Turkey that contains dibasic calcium phosphate. Dibasic calcium phosphate helps remineralize teeth, eliminate tooth decay, strengthen tooth enamel, and whiten teeth.
Xylitol retains calcium ions in saliva and, together with dibasic calcium phosphate, helps teeth regain calcium ions, thus providing tooth remineralization.
According to numerous studies, propolis, which has antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antitumoral effects, is at least as effective as fluoride in treating tooth decay. Propolis helps eliminate gum inflammation, strengthen tooth enamel, address gum problems, and provide tooth remineralization.
The abrasive and scratching effect of Glimo toothpastes on tooth enamel has been tested with the Hefferren abrasion test at Indiana University School of Dentistry, and the RDA (Relative Dentin Abrasion) level was found to be well below the limit value of 70.
The Harms of Chemical Containing Toothpastes on Oral and General Health:
SLS:
SLS is a chemical commonly used as a foaming detergent in traditional toothpastes, shampoos, detergents, shower gels, and shaving foams. It can cause irritation and inflammatory reactions on the skin. It has deep penetration properties into tissues. While low doses increase epithelial cell proliferation, high doses lead to epithelial atrophy and cell death. It is associated with intraoral side effects and can trigger canker sores. It can cause sensitivity in the gums and irritation in the oral mucosa. When SLS foam from fluoride-containing toothpastes is ingested, it can react excessively with stomach acid. SLS, as a detergent-derived foaming agent, exhibits carcinogenic and toxic effects. It can cause swelling of the gums, gum diseases, and tooth decay by reducing the resistance of teeth to acids. The foam in toothpaste prevents deep cleaning of the teeth and the penetration of the paste between the teeth. The foam can cause nausea in children and adhere to their throats, negatively affecting their ability to develop a habit of brushing their teeth.
Triclosan:
Triclosan is a carcinogenic and environmentally polluting substance that can cause allergic reactions. It is a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent used to prevent plaque formation. When it comes into contact with chlorine in water, it reacts to form toxic chloroform gas. Over time, chloroform gas can weaken the immune system, and negatively affect muscle functions and skeletal structure.
Paraben:
Paraben is a chemical with toxic properties for the human body. Some studies have linked it to breast and skin cancer. It is used as an antimicrobial agent to extend the shelf life of products by preventing the formation of bacteria and mold.
Chlorhexidine:
Chlorhexidine can cause staining of the teeth and tongue and have local side effects. It is used as an antiseptic in toothpastes.
Gluten:
Gluten is a protein found in grains. Gluten-containing foods can adhere to the inner lining of the intestines, weakening their ability to absorb nutrients. For those with gluten sensitivity, it can cause allergic reactions and increase the risk of depression, anxiety, and autoimmune diseases. Consumption of gluten is strictly prohibited for individuals with celiac disease and gluten intolerance. Experts also recommend a gluten-free diet for those with immune system diseases and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Fluoride:
High levels of fluoride intake can cause various health issues. Excessive fluoride intake negatively affects the brain, reducing skills such as memory, thinking, and learning. It can disrupt hormonal balance. It has been reported that fluoride increases the risk of fluorosis in children. In such cases, fluoride-free products that prevent demineralization and increase remineralization may need to be used.
